Electric Roto Starters
RC Electric Starters Roto Conversion Kits
Upgrade your RC model from pull starter to a rc electric starter. To do this you will need to remove your engine (as if changing the pull starter) and swap the pull starter for an rc electric starter backplate.
We stock several different options to suit most needs.
- Starter rod and backplate only. This is the option for you if you have a standard household cordless drill. Starter rods use a 5mm hex.
- RC Electric starter without battery pack and charger. If you already have a 7.2v battery pack and charger then this is the option for you.
- RC Electric starter with battery pack and charger (complete kit). This is the option for you if you require all parts.
Our range of electric starters can be found here (click here)
How to find out if these rc electric starters will fit your model?
To see if this item will fit please check the backplate size on your engine, to do this you will need to remove the pull starter and measure..
- across the center of pull starter fixing holes top right to top left (shown as A on the diagram below)
- across the flats of the one way bearing in the middle. Measure as if using a socket set (M12 or M14) (shown as B on the diagram below)
Please see the diagram below:
Note; our starting kits do not include a one way bearing.
If the sizes you get don't match those on the product description please e-mail us we stock a couple of different size backplates and may have the one in stock to fit. Currently we stock these backplates:
- 27mm top right to top left fixing hole - Space to fit a 12mm or 14mm one way bearing (M12 or M14 socket size).
- 32mm top right to top left fixing hole - Space to fit a 12mm or 14mm one way bearing (M12 or M14 socket size.
At this time we don't recommend our roto starter options on engines larger than a .18 size. Recommended for .18 sizes (3cc) or smaller only.
